UT's Student Energy Engagement Council
About the Council
Calling all students interested in energy, sustainability, and innovation! The Energy Institute is pleased to announce the launch of the cross-disciplinary Student Energy Engagement Council, an opportunity for student leaders to engage with the Energy Institute and play an active role in building a cohesive student energy community. We are accepting applications this summer.
How It Works
The Student Energy Engagement Council comprises student leaders representing a variety of academic disciplines and student organizations. Students from all UT colleges and schools are encouraged to apply. We also encourage applications from representatives of student clubs focused on energy, sustainability, innovation, and other energy-adjacent topics.
Members of the SEEC represent their school or club by sharing information with the council about their school’s or club’s activities. They also support the Energy Institute by passing along information—about opportunities in energy, sustainability, and innovation—from fellow council members and the Energy Institute to their school or club.
To participate, members need to be actively involved in the activities of their school or club, so that they can effectively stay connected with their peers and share timely, relevant information about energy-related opportunities (such as fellowships, networking events, and competitions). Importantly, membership in the council is meant not to duplicate or distract students from their current commitments but to amplify that engagement to help build stronger connections among student groups and across academic disciplines.
- Council Member Activities & Responsibilities
-
- Attend monthly council meetings to get to know fellow council members, connect with Energy Institute leadership, and share updates about school/club activities. (Meetings will be in person.)
- Share monthly bulletins with peers in your school or club, to relay information shared at council meetings; also re-share periodic emails or social media posts as needed about timely events or opportunities.
- Support events such as EnergizeUT (Fall, 2025) and UT Energy Week (April 4-April 8, 2026), e.g., by volunteering at the event, helping spread awareness of the event, or helping with event planning.
Applications will be opening soon.Questions? Contact Laura Black, Sr. Administrative Associate, UT Energy Institute or Kohl Lasell, Events & Communications Coordinator, Energy Institute.
